Editing

In addition to my work as an author, I am an assistant editor at The Wild Rose Press. This is my dream job. I freely admit to an obsession with words, and making them look nice. Below, you'll find some information about me, and what kinds of stories I'm seeking.

Editing vs. Authorship

I made the decision to be open about the fact that I'm also an author, although if you wish to contact me as an editor, you should E-mail me through the normal submission process at The Wild Rose Press (I don't answer queries through the E-mail associated with my author website). Because I believe it would be a conflict of interest, I will not take queries for stories in a subgenre in which I write. You can forward those to the proper editor at The Wild Rose Press.

Genres

I accept only romance manuscripts. As mentioned above, I don't take stories in subgenres like paranormal romance. Currently, I am looking for Contemporary Western Romance. I don't write it, but I love to read it!

What I Look For

I look for moving, emotional stories with compelling characters. I want solid conflict, and an ending that makes me sigh with happiness when I finish the manuscript. Manuscripts should be properly formatted, and as error-free as you can make them. While I am an editor, and line edits are a part of my job, I prefer to focus on the content of your story to help you get the most out of your characters. The less time an editor needs to devote to line edits, the more time she can spend on the story itself, helping it show off its best features. I do believe an author should be a hands-on part of the process, especially in today's competitive market.

If you feel that you have a manuscript suitable for The Wild Rose Press, please visit their website and submit a query. Good luck in your writing!
